How to Survive a Long Distance Relationship, love, relationships ...

Some of us had to go through this, or still are, or maybe decided it was too hard and gave up your relationship. Whichever the case may be, it is hard and it?s not for everyone, trust me. I still don?t know how I deal with it. In face, I know quite a few who have survived the long distance relationship and appreciate one another more, because of how strong their bond became. They overcame a tough obstacle. ?Whether it?s deployment, financial issues, or countries or states that keep you apart, your love is what will bring you back again!

I?ll admit that the first time I came to North Carolina (for three months) at the beginning of this year?I would cry myself to sleep. The one person I always wanted to be around was miles and miles away. I couldn?t just get in my car and quickly drive over to his house. I cried, because I didn?t know if we would make it. We were devastated and it put a strain on our relationship. Before leaving I was asked the same question multiple times, ?are you guys staying together?? or ?how can you make it work?? and the occasional, ?are you sure you want to do this.? My answer was always the same? We?ve overcome so much within our friendship and relationship over the years that, going through a long distance relationship was the least of our worries.

I tried to tell myself I was just on vacation to see my family, but it didn?t work. No, not until I saw Andrew again.

I?m pleased to say that after those 3 months, I got to visit Andrew again and stayed with him for a few months. Now, of course, we are back to our long distance relationship, but this time I know it will work. We have gone through that obstacle and know for a fact that we can easily make it through this time. Plus, I get to see him during Christmas time! Yay!icon smile How to Survive a Long Distance Relationship

So, if you are about to be in a long distance relationship, or already are? here are some tips that worked for us!

???????

1. Keep Busy

The number one thing we both do is keep busy. Andrew has school and work and I work at home. I occupy myself with chores, movie nights, family time, and work. It?s great how much faster time goes when you?re not thinking about how far away your significant other is!

2. Text/Call/ichat-Skype

Technology is amazing and it keeps up connected. We text all the time, even if Andrew is in class and we call one another when we have some time set aside to talk on the phone. Late night phone calls are the best! Oh we giggle so much, it?s fun. We have ichat, but I know many of you might have Skype. It?s so great to be able to take some time each day or whenever possible to see the other smile. Oh I swoon over Andrew?s smile, laugh, and it?s gorgeous eyes! And it?s fun to send over some silly facesicon smile How to Survive a Long Distance Relationship

3. Send packages

Oh I love receiving packages through the mail, it?s the best! I know Andrew loves seeing a package waiting for him at his door. My all time favorite package I received was on Valentine?s Day. Since we couldn?t actually go on a date, he sent a date over in a box! I got flowers, chocolates, a movie, and popcorn!! Along with some love letters too. Oh it was so romantic!! <3 Fun packages are always a bonus in a relationship and it?s always great knowing that your significant other is thinking of you!

4. Stay Focused

Relationships can be a lot of work, especially being miles apart. It sort of puts a strain on the relationship. So stay focused on one another. Work at your relationship just a bit harder than you would if your significant other was right next to you. Try not to have arguments and if you do, don?t go to bed upset. Clear the elephant in the room and figure everything out!

It?s a lot harder not being able to see your partner in person, so chances are having arguments will stress your relationship out.

????????

I hope these little helpful tid bits keeps you excited and lets you know there is hope for your long distance relationship. Just don?t give up!!

Happy Friday!
