A temporary restraining order issued Friday blocked the planned closure of the hospital.
On Saturday, SUNY Downstate, which runs the facility, said it's served a notice of intent to appeal that order, automatically staying its implementation.
Doctors at the hospital, however, told NY1 that they don't plan to transfer patients as of Saturday afternoon.
The state Health Department approved a closure plan for the hospital earlier this week.
SUNY Downstate had planned to stop admitting emergency room patients at LICH on Monday, and to discharge all patients by next Sunday, July 28.
According to the plan, the emergency department would cease all operations the following day.
Fewer than 20 patients remain at the hospital.
SUNY Downstate officials say the hospital must close because it's losing $15 million per month.
