NEW YORK (AP) ? The trainer of Triple Crown hopeful I'll Have Another says he doesn't think New York racing officials are picking on him after the state's racing and wagering board imposed strict rules for horses in the Belmont Stakes.

Doug O'Neill says "I don't think so" when asked Thursday if officials were singling him out because of his history of doping infractions. His recent 45-day suspension won't begin until after the Belmont on June 9.

New rules call for all Belmont runners to be stabled in a stakes barn rather than spread out in different stables around the track. Also, there will be out-of-competition blood testing and close scrutiny of the horses and humans attending them.

Self-drive 'convoy' hits the road

A convoy of self-driven cars has completed a 200km (125-mile) journey on a Spanish motorway, in the first public test of such vehicles.

The cars were wirelessly linked to each other and "mimicked" a lead vehicle, driven by a professional driver.

The so-called road train has been developed by Volvo. The firm is confident that they will be widely available in future.

The project aims to herald a new age of relaxed driving.

According to Volvo, drivers "can now work on their laptops, read a book or sit back and enjoy a relaxed lunch" while driving.

The road train test was carried out as part of a European Commission research project known as Sartre - Safe Road Trains for the Environment.

The convoy comprised three cars and one lorry.

Special features

"Driving among other road-users is a great milestone in our project. It was truly thrilling," says Linda Wahlstroem, project manager for the Sartre project at Volvo Car Corporation

"We covered 200km in one day and the test turned out well. We're really delighted," she added.

The cars are fitted with special features such as cameras, radar and laser sensors - allowing the vehicle to monitor the lead vehicle and also other vehicles in their immediate vicinity. Using wireless communication, the vehicles in the platoon "mimic" the lead vehicle using autonomous control - accelerating, braking and turning in exactly the same way as the leader.

The vehicles drove at 85kph (52mph) with the gap between each vehicle just 6m (19ft).

"People think that autonomous driving is science fiction, but the fact is that the technology is already here. From the purely conceptual viewpoint, it works fine and road train will be around in one form or another in the future," says Ms Wahlstroem.

"We've focused really hard on changing as little as possible in existing systems. Everything should function without any infrastructure changes to the roads or expensive additional components in the cars.

"Apart from the software developed as part of the project, it is really only the wireless network installed between the cars that set them apart from other cars available in showrooms today."

The three-year Sartre project has been under way since 2009. Other partners include UK car technology firm Ricardo UK, Tecnalia Research & Innovation of Spain, Institut fur Kraftfahrzeuge Aachen (IKA) of Germany and the Technical Research Institute of Sweden.

All told, the vehicles in the project have covered about 10,000km on test circuits.

The eventual aim of the project is to have lots of cars "slaved" to a lead vehicle and travelling at high speed along specific routes on motorways.

NEW YORK (AP) ? Stocks jumped Tuesday, one of their best days in an otherwise dreary month, after China appeared poised to rev up its economic growth machine.

Industrial stocks that depend heavily on the Chinese economy, like Caterpillar and Alcoa, rose sharply, bringing the Dow Jones industrial average up 76 points to 12,532 in midday trading. China is the largest market for aluminum, which Alcoa makes, and Caterpillar recently said it is aggressively courting China to sell its construction equipment.

If the Dow finishes higher it will be only its fourth gain this month. The Dow is still down 5 percent for May and is headed for its first monthly loss since September. The increasing likelihood that Greece will drop out of the euro currency and a worsening of Spain's financial condition have been the main culprits behind the decline.

Facebook plunged 7 percent to just under $30. The stock has been hammered since going public a little more than a week ago at $38. The glitch-plagued IPO has drawn scrutiny from regulators and ire from disgruntled investors who had trouble executing trades.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 7 points to 1,324 and the Nasdaq composite rose 10 points to 2,847.

American investors were also reacting for the first time to news from Greece Monday that a party in favor of abiding by the terms of the country's financial rescue could win in national elections next month. Investors were also heartened with some positive news from the beleaguered U.S. housing market. The Standard & Poor's/Case-Shiller report on home prices found that prices increased in 12 of the 20 cities it tracks. The increase in March from the month before was the first in seven months. It was the latest evidence of a slow recovery taking shape in the troubled housing market.

In Europe, concerns that Spain's ailing banking sector might worsen the European debt crisis sent the Spanish stock market to nine-year lows. Other European markets rose.

Spain's banks are sitting on huge amounts of soured investments in the country's imploded real estate market. That has led to the recent nationalization of Bankia, the country's fourth-largest lender. Bankia revealed last week that it needs far more money in state aid than previously expected, $23.8 billion.

Madrid's Ibex index fell 2.3 percent. Bankia dropped another 13.6 percent. The yield on the benchmark 10-year government bonds, a key gauge of investor confidence in the country's ability to avoid bankruptcy, was slightly lower at 6.41 percent. The rate is perilously close to the 7 percent rate, which is widely seen as too high for a country to afford over the long term.

Oil prices were up one percent to $91.81. Crude has dropped from $106 four weeks ago amid signs of slowing global growth and optimism that a military conflict over Iran's nuclear capabilities could be avoided.

Energy companies were also gaining on expectations that China will need more energy to fuel its growth. Peabody Energy and Chesapeake Energy shot up 5 percent, and Consol Energy gained 4 percent.

Government rests its case in Clemens perjury trial

WASHINGTON (AP) - Prosecutors have rested their case in the perjury trial of Roger Clemens.

The government called the last of its 24 witnesses Tuesday, concluding 19 days of testimony. The last witness was a toxicologist from the FBI who testified about the various forms of vitamin B12.

Including jury selection, the trial is now in its seventh week. It was originally expected to take four to six weeks.

Clemens' lawyers say they will need about two weeks to call their witnesses.

Clemens is charged with lying to Congress in 2008 when he denied using steroids and human growth hormone during his 24-year major league career.

The government's case relies heavily on Clemens' former strength coach, Brian McNamee, who testified that he injected the ex-pitcher with both substances.

Thanks, I'm glad that you like the idea. I can certainly see some of the similarities with Fallout, though I actually only got into that series after I worked on Alas. It takes a bit of inspiration from 1984, and Brave New World as well. I'll put you down for one of the Protector roles. Protectors are allowed a small degree of variation on what they wear, Delta for example tends to have gloves and heavy boots due to what her job involves, though the Protectors all the to wear long black coats marked with the symbol that represents their name. The coats themselves are stab-resistant and so act as protection of a sort.

As for location, MK-2, as close to the site of where the town of Milton Keynes stands today, hence the name. The Western Land's location is around Wales and Herefordshire, roughly.

It's showing up in the 'Newest RPs List' as far as I can see, I'm not sure about elsewhere. While as a Scholar I'm on the staff, I don't really know much about all the inner workings of the site or whether they're currently tinkering with things under RPG's hood, as it were.

Mickelson joins group looking to buy Padres

Phil Mickelson wants a piece of the San Diego Padres.

Mickelson has joined a group seeking to purchase a majority stake in the Major League Baseball franchise, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

?I?ve had the opportunity to invest in other sports franchises, and I?ve turned it down in the past,? said Mickelson, a San Diego native. ?This was a unique opportunity with families that had done this before and know how to do it right and want to get involved in the community.?

The group is led by four grandchildren of former Dodgers owner Walter O?Malley.

Retired Padres legend Tony Gwynn has endorsed a competing group, but Mickelson said he would seek the support of the Hall of Famer if his group prevails.

"If we were able to get control, (Gwynn) would be the first person we?d want to get involved,? Mickelson said. ?He?s such an icon with the team. Hopefully, it won?t be combative.?

A price has not been set, but Mickelson figures to invest a significant amount. In 2009, the team fetched a price of $530 million.

Mickelson, whose on-course career earnings top $60 million and whose off-course income dwarfs that, believes the opportunity is worth it.

?Growing up, the Padres were my team and still are," he said. "I always had a love for the team. But (recently) I just felt disassociated with the organization a little bit as a fan. I just know I didn?t identify with the players or have an emotional connection. Where I want to get involved is I want to get a personal involvement with the players and the community -- personal interaction with fans, more community outreach. I want to create an emotional tie with the players and the community.?
