The distributor didn?t recover his $90,000 and had to pay legal fees to his own lawyer and costs to Mr. Don?s lawyer. Man executed in Delaware for killing woman with ax (AP)
SMYRNA, Del. ? Delaware carried out its first execution since 2005 early Friday, putting to death a man who was convicted of killing a woman with an ax during a burglary nearly two decades ago.
Robert Jackson III was pronounced dead at 12:12 a.m. after being given a lethal injection at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna.
Jackson, 38, lifted his head when asked for his last words shortly after midnight. Searching the window between the execution chamber and witnesses, he asked if the two children of the victim, Elizabeth Girardi, were watching.
"Are the Girardis in there? Christopher and Claudia, if you are in there, I've never faulted you for your anger. I would have been mad myself," he said, going on to deny he killed their mother.
He suggested that his accomplice in the burglary, Anthony Lachette, was the killer.
"Tony's laughing his ass off right now because you're about to watch an innocent man die. This isn't justice," he said before putting his head back down and closing his eyes.
When the execution began, Jackson started making a snoring sound, his lips sputtered and his breath began to quicken. Prison officials closed the curtain between the execution chamber and witnesses after about four minutes to check whether he was conscious, calling out twice, "Inmate Jackson, can you hear me?" There was no response.
When the curtain reopened a minute later, Jackson made no more movements or sounds. From start to finish, the execution took about 10 minutes.
A small group gathered outside the prison to protest, though one woman came to express her support for the execution.
One of the protesters, 68-year-old Sally Milbury-Steen, said she did not believe the death penalty is a deterrent.
"As a citizen, I'm so chagrined that my tax dollars are being used," Milbury-Steen said.
The lone supporter, Rose Wilson, said Jackson was getting what he deserved and that his death would be painless, unlike his victim's.
"When he hacked that woman he didn't say, `I'm going to put you to sleep before I kill you,'" Wilson, 52, of Townsend, Del., said.
Jackson's execution was the first time Delaware included pentobarbital as one of three drugs used to carry out an execution. Delaware switched to the drug after a nationwide shortage of sodium thiopental, the previous drug the state used to sedate an inmate before administering two other lethal drugs.
Eight other states have already used pentobarbital to carry out executions, according to the Washington-based Death Penalty Information Center.
Jackson's execution followed a series of legal challenges that stretched into the hours before he was executed. His lawyers had argued that Jackson should be allowed to challenge the state's switch to pentobarbital as an execution drug, saying it posed a risk of pain and suffering. But the U.S. Supreme Court and Delaware Gov. Jack Markell ultimately denied requests to stay the execution.
Jackson was sentenced to death for the 1992 killing of the 47-year-old Girardi, a resident of Hockessin.
"In a perfect world, none of this would have happened," said Girardi's daughter, Claudia Desaulniers, who was 15 at the time of the killing.
Desaulniers said she thinks about her mother every day, calling her a "loving person." She said even now she is startled at unexpected noises in her home, like a floor creaking, worried she might be the victim of a crime.
According to testimony presented at trial, Girardi was killed after she returned home on April 3, 1992, and found Jackson, then 18, and an accomplice leaving her home with stolen jewelry and other items. While Jackson's accomplice ran, Jackson used an ax he found in a woodshed to strike Girardi repeatedly in the head.
Lachette, Jackson's accomplice, testified against him at trial, where it was revealed that the pair planned the burglary to get money to buy marijuana. Lachette pleaded guilty to burglary and conspiracy and was released from prison in 1996.
Two different juries recommended the death penalty for Jackson, the first after deliberating less than two hours. Jackson told a second jury in 1995 that he was a changed person and apologized to Girardi's family.
"I can't explain what happened," he said, according to one news account at the time. "I don't know what happened ? a mistake."
The jury voted for the death penalty 11-1.
Jackson is the 15th person Delaware has put to death since 1992 when the state again began executions after a decades-long hiatus. The last inmate to be executed by the state was Brian Steckel, who was executed in 2005 for raping and strangling a neighbor, Sandra Lee Long, who burned to death in a fire Steckel set. While awaiting trial in Long's 1994 murder, Steckel sent taunting and threatening letters to people involved in the case, including Long's mother.
A total of 19 other inmates, all men, are currently on death row in the state.

Acne hits between the ages of 10 and 13. The condition persists for the next five to 10 years. It normally disappears in the early twenties though it can stay until one is in their late twenties, 30?s or even later than that. There have already been instances when people begin getting acne once they are well into adulthood.
Males or women?
There has been no concrete evidence to show whether males or women suffer more from acne. But young men are more prone to the various types of acne than women. For males acne is far more severe and lasts truly longer than women. Despite this men don?t go to the dermatologist as often as they should.
Young ladies usually have acne that occurs intermittently. This is brought on by hormonal changes that are associated with the menstrual cycle. Acne may also be brought on by the use of cosmetics without understanding whether they?re suitable to the particular skin type or not. These sorts of acne can happen to ladies who are well into their adulthood.
Where do they happen?
Acne can happen most generally on the face however they also occur on the chest, back, shoulders, scalp, neck, upper arms and legs.
Impact
Acne may appear to be really trivial but you will be surprised to know that it does have an economic impact also. Roughly a hundred million dollars a year are invested on non-prescriptive drugs that most teens purchase to get rid of acne. When you wander through Europe, you run into statues (literally, if you have your nose stuck in your guidebook). There are lots of ?em, and they?re all old. Some are incredibly impressive: I still have a soft spot, of sorts, for Venus de Milo. Others, however, are utterly forgettable ? vast collections of stone or metal that are important while falling short of stunning.
Visit Bruges, Belgium, and the rules change entirely.
Sure, there are plenty of statues, including a piece by Michaelangelo that somehow found its way out of Italy (this doesn?t happen much, to be honest). The interesting stuff isn?t sitting in churches or etched from stone. Rather, it?s built from a distinctly Belgian medium: chocolate.
I?m not joking.
Spend a few minutes in Belgium, and you?ll be bombarded by the sweet stuff (you?ll even be encouraged to stick some up your nose). There?s chocolate everywhere, and as I saw shortly after I hit the ground in Bruges, it?s even on display.
The local chocolate museum, Choco-Story, is home to quite a few of them ? unsurprising, really, given that the propaganda exhibition museum has the tools and expertise necessary to make it happen. There are a few more elsewhere in the city, though, and you should keep an eye out for unique, interesting and tasty creations all over the cute little city.

In some cases, it?s a straight line from the real world to chocolate equivalent, but I will admit I stretched plausibility in a few places. Morgan Stanley has released its comprehensive quarterly metals outlook update for Q3, which while traditionally?furiously wrong in its price targets for the assorted metals under consideration, represents one of the best reference materials for the underlying fundamentals behind each hard asset including base and precious metals, steel and bulk commodities, mined energy, rare earths, even such arcania as zircon and titanium dioxide. We suggest readers avoid the conclusion by Morgan Stanley which ultimately will be based on the firm?s prop trading bias, and instead focus on the key supply/demand mechanics in any given product. For the sake of reference, we break down MS? outlook on gold, silver due to the special place these hold in the modern geo-political and voodoo economic discussions.
Gold
Investment demand is strengthening again?
- Identified and implied investment has become the main driver of demand in the gold market over the past decade and has become essential to absorb the fundamental surplus resulting from mine production, secondary supply, any net sales from central banks and producer hedging, and the long-term decline in jewellery fabrication demand.
- As the transparency of reporting of bar hoarding demand has increased along with the growth in physically backed ETF demand, the depth and structure of the physical investment market has become more visible. In our view, assessing the sustainability of this investment flow has become critical to the gold price outlook.
- According to GFMS, total identifiable investment demand for gold reached a record 1,514t in 2011, or 1,675t if implied investment demand is included, for a new annual record of US$66bn.
- More dramatic growth in investment demand for gold can be pinpointed to 2008-09 and the global financial crisis, which raised serious concerns about a debt deflationary spiral and the long-term purchasing power of the world?s major fiat currencies, especially the US dollar and the Japanese yen.
?as sovereign debt concerns highlight fiat currency risks
- More recently, a sharp rise in inflationary pressures partially driven by a surge in oil prices since February 2011 and the growing risk of sovereign debt default in peripheral countries of the Eurozone have given added impetus to investment demand growth as the fear of sovereign debt contagion has also raised questions over the long-term future of the euro.
- Even more recently, the impending threat of technical default by the US government if the government debt ceiling is breached, and the associated risk of a sovereign debt rating downgrade if a satisfactory long-term debt reduction program is not established have added to investor concerns about the long-term outlook for US treasuries and ?risk-free assets.?
- In these circumstances, we expect the long-running bull market in gold will receive further impetus, even if there is no return to QE in the US. However, QE3 is a potential further upside risk to prices in the current environment.
- A further illustration of the growing quasi-monetary role of gold in the current global financial environment has been the persistent trend in official sector sales from net selling to net buying, a trend that we expect to continue, especially now that the sale of the IMF gold tranche has been completed.
- We have increased our annual gold price forecasts by 8%, 22% and 24% for 2011, 2012 and 2013 respectively to US$1,511/oz, US$1,624/0z and US$1,550/oz.
Global supply / demand
Silver
May 2011 correction has reduced risks of demand destruction?
- As GFMS observed in the 2011 World Silver Survey published for the Silver Institute, silver?s ?hybrid? precious and industrial nature leads to links with gold, copper, and the CRB index, which can vary greatly.
- In the course of 2011, silver?s precious metal status and therefore its links with gold have been strongly reinforced by investors? preference to hedge systemic financial risk, rising inflationary pressures, and resurgent political risk in MENA through a cheaper vehicle with characteristics similar to gold as a store of value.
- Driven by a spectacular rally between late March and May led by retail investors, the gold:silver ratio narrowed sharply, reaching its lowest point since October 1980 in early May 2011 at 30:1.
- Closing prices for silver at the peak of the rally in late April 2011 at US$48.70/oz came within 1.5% of the all time high established in January 1980 during the Hunt brothers? squeeze. Successive increases in the Comex margin requirements then saw prices trade between US$33 and US$36/oz and the gold:silver ratio stabilize around 40 to 44:1.
?helping sustain investment demand going into 2012
- In our view, the 2,000t outflow of silver from ETF funds that has followed this correction is likely to be temporary, as all of the drivers for the initial 3,500t surge in ETF inflows between September 2010 and late April 2011 are still in place.
- Furthermore, the lower trading range for prices since the crash in early May should be an incentive for investors to return to the physical investment market now that the impact of the violent correction has largely been discounted.
- Investor sentiment should also be encouraged by evidence of strongly rising fabrication demand, especially in the brazing alloy/solder and jewellery markets, which are forecast to grow by 8.2% and 3.7%, respectively, in 2011.
- As a result, we have made significant upgrades to prices throughout the forecast period. For 2011, we now expect an average price of US$36.21/oz, up 15% from our previous forecast, and in 2012 we see prices averaging US$36.90/oz, 30% higher than our previous estimate.
- For 2013, we have raised our forecast 32% to US$32.98/oz.

Just mix carbonated mineral water with 100 percent fruit juice of your choice (not concentrated). Mix no more than a 50/50 ratio and change up your fruit juice once in a while. We like grapefruit juice in the summer.
With so much research against it and so many healthy thirst quenchers out there, the reasons to drink soda evaporate like carbonation bubbles. Especially in the heat of summer, the health risks of soda should not be overlooked!

Dedicating daily deals to health and fitness
Upward popularity graph of group buying sites is encouraging the enterprises to zero in on the specialized offers for a particular group of discount-seekers. Unlike past when only few internet users were familiar with the online stores of discounts particularly daily deal sites, today group buying has become a common name for online shoppers in developed as well as developing countries.
